We attain Ascension into Light and perfect soul expression by obedience to Divine Law until we become the Law, which is the short Path of the Master. To become Law, we must completely surrender to be used by Law, which is the only shortcut to God. Law, which is absolute Principle, forms each rung of the ladder that we build to God. We climb the ladder through obedience to Law, and have nothing else but Law to hold to on the climb to God. As you accept a Law, your acceptance forms the next higher rung.

We may ascend in consciousness on the Law we receive, we may pay attention to Law we have learned, and this is very good. Yet we must be more earnest in our efforts, for Law is not a matter of part-time thinking or service. Law is forever the foundation of all creation and progress. No soul can progress without obedience to Law, not only to the great Principles, such as Love and Wisdom, but to small everyday details, especially our attitudes toward others. Nodding or saying yes when given a new Law or a new interpretation is easy, but abiding by that Law day and night is another matter. God gives all Law to help us master ourselves first and then the outer.

Nothing is impossible to the one who becomes Law, which is inexhaustible Wisdom, Love and Selflessness, acting as all Mind, Substance and Power in the universe. Each “cell” of the universe is a Law in form. Each lifespark of God embodies Law, to be used as Light or dark. Yet Law is no use without an instrument through which to express itself. Law must use you as an instrument to its own glory and ends, yet may do so only to the extent that you let it use you.

Greatness consists in being amenable to high Law. You must become absolute Law to such a degree that you are no longer aware of obeying the thousands of individual relative Laws. Freedom comes through definite understanding and obedience to all Law. Our idea of freedom is to have all we want, where and when we want it, and naturally we dislike any restraint. The Laws of Responsibility contained herein are for conquering Creators, not for the world, which still resists assuming personal responsibility.

No other technique or approach to soul Ascension is more direct than becoming Law. All previous psychic-mediumistic “shortcuts,” such as “trance channeling” or “automatic writing,” merely teach and train you to become an Adept, practicing control of self and others, while perhaps manipulating your environment. Such methods are not on the Master’s Path, which is the long, hard climb to become Law, the only safe way.

Edna Miriam came to earth with one idea: She thought everyone could walk with Jesus. At age four she knew she must save earth. At age six she knew she must lead Armies of the Faithful back to God. At age eight, she saw the Master, and knew God as Personality. Edna Miriam then asked the meaning of “search with your soul,” and “hunger and thirst after righteousness.” At age 12 she knew she would write a book to raise earth’s vibration.

Edna Miriam looked for the Face that “fled away in every direction” since she was 12 years old. “I had to find the Face.” When she did, she was afraid to touch the Scepter of Power because of the responsibility. She desired a career in grand opera and the political world, but a man said to her, “What is that to thee? Follow thou me.” Then she saw the Master, who said, “God is deathless, ageless and abiding. Avoid the appearance of evil.” All she has given us has come from this.

“ I want these words to carry lines of Light to uphold you that your strength shall equal 1,000, your faith shall be absolutely unconquerable in every way, your love for God shall be so great that nothing others can say or do shall upset your poise. Your “eyes” and “ears” shall be open every moment and the right answer shall register on your brain cells to become words on your lips, so high in love and justice that no one can resist them.”

As Crusaders of Light, we accept our responsibility to live as nearly as possible the life portrayed by our Master while he walked on earth. We feel that this is a life of joy, not sorrow, success, not limitation. There is no place in it for death nor darkness. We leave nothing out of this life. We believe that every creed, denomination, religious dogma, teacher, minister, rabbi or priest is appointed to give something of God to the world. In each we find truth, and our business is to relate all these different ideas into a perfect, beautiful, coordinated working whole. We subscribe our lives to do this in as unobtrusive a way as possible, taking no credit to ourselves, but giving God, as all the Power that is, the whole and complete credit.

“ To become” is our motto. “To ascend” is our goal. “To release Power” is our service.

All the rest of your earth life you will use these Master Lessons, only to find new Law herein. Even the Masters of the Realms use them as a textbook, for they are the true Universal Truth again presented by the highest Authority.

Edna Lister explains Divine Law, its foundation Principles and their meaning in this text. We have drawn from the Bible, Messages, and her students’ notes many examples of disobedience illustrating why we must obey Law, and warnings about the results of disobedience.

Perhaps the most foolish misuse of this text is to believe that any portion of it does not apply to you.
